Jimi Figueiredo

With a degree in Communications from the University of Brasília, where he was influenced by filmmakers such as Vladimir Carvalho and Geraldo Moraes, Jimi Figueiredo builds a body of work attentive to the tensions between appearance and truth. His films follow characters who are observed, surveilled, or pressured by structures of power and corruption, exploring how people behave when they know or discover that they are being watched. Jimi also draws on the absurd and the fantastic as ways of expressing what reality alone cannot explain. His narratives blend genres, humor, and social critique to prompt reflection on the boundaries between public and private, what is revealed and what remains hidden.
