Eduardo Albergaria

Eduardo Albergaria has been directing since the early 2000s, when he made the short film Achados e Perdidos. In 2008, he directed the documentary series Pet.Doc for cable television, followed by the documentary Paysandu, 100 Anos de Payxão in 2015. He made his fiction feature debut in 2018 with Happy Hour, Verdades e Consequências, a co-production with Argentine producer Vanessa Ragone supported by awards from Ibermedia and INCAA-ANCINE. In 2022, he directed the series Alucinação and, in 2023, released his second feature, Nosso Sonho, A História de Claudinho e Buchecha, the highest-grossing Brazilian film of that year. The film was nominated for the Grande Otelo Award for Best Brazilian Feature Film, included in the Brazilian Academy of Cinema’s shortlist of potential Oscar submissions, and featured in Netflix’s Global Top 10 for non-English-language films. In 2025, he directed the series PRK30, O Rádio pelo Avesso and Viver é Melhor que Sonhar, A Vida de Belchior. His films revisit icons of Brazilian popular culture to rekindle a sense of hope and belonging amid the country’s contradictions.
